    I don’t have to tell you these are tough times. Our stalled economic recovery has forced painful cuts to vital services – and the threat of deeper cuts continues to grow. As President and CEO of Granite Construction, Incorporated, one of the largest civil contractors and construction materials producers in California, I can relate to the tough choices you have had to make.

    A very important initiative for both the State of California and Granite is the Liberty Quarry project located on the Riverside and San Diego County border. It has come to our attention that an eleventh-hour bill has been drafted to kill Liberty Quarry and the benefits it will bring to California..

  • GRANITE CONSTRUCTION JOINS LABOR COALITION TO OPPOSE 11TH HOUR JOB KILLER BILL

    SACRAMENTO, CA — In response to a last minute, behind the scenes attempt to circumvent the local land use process, Granite Construction Company has joined Labor in a united attempt to put a stop to a proposed bill initially aimed at preventing Granite’s Liberty Quarry project, in addition would ultimately enact a wide sweeping ban on all California mining operations.

    Granite agrees to be the first company in Riverside County to allow only clean trucks to use its facility, further improving regional air quality

    MURRIETA, CA — Granite Construction Company today announced its commitment to allow only clean trucks to use the proposed Liberty Quarry project in Southwest Riverside County. Allowing only trucks with clean air engines will reduce emissions from Granite trucks as well as heavy-duty trucks that are already involved in transporting aggregate throughout the region.

    Indio, CA (November 12, 2009) - Granite Construction Company’s Indio Hot Mix Asphalt Plant, was named as a National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) finalist for the 2009 Ecological Awards for Existing Asphalt Facilities.  The other finalist is Staker Parsons Companies, Point East Asphalt Plant in Murray, Utah.
