There's hope on the horizon
Rick Neugebauer
Vice president, RTN Development
Murrieta
I attended the recent I-215 South Corridor Economic Development Summit and was thoroughly impressed with the local options we have to reduce traffic congestion and protect our economy. The message was clear, our past dependence on distant sources of building materials just isn't going to work anymore; our freeways are too congested, our air is too dirty and long-distance trucking is getting too expensive. We need local sources for construction materials.

Environmentalism is the real problem:
The Californian, August 10, 2008
Let's build an animal bridge across the freeway and give the quarry land to the Santa Margarita preserve. Never heard of the preserve?
Let's pollute the air and congest the freeways by shipping sand and gravel in from other areas instead of having a quarry in our back yard. Let's give those jobs to other areas. After all, isn't that what we have welfare for? Isn't it more important that the mountain lions and bobcats on the west side of the freeway be allowed to feed on the coyotes and small children of Temecula east of the freeway?

- Aggregate supply needed close by
LTE - Californian - July 29, 2008
I was disappointed to read state Assembly candidate Grey Frandsen's letter (July 22) opposing Liberty Quarry. Apparently, he has not spent much time driving up and down Interstates 15 and 215 with their endless freight train of rock trucks importing aggregate from Corona, San Bernardino, and other areas. Trying to dodge bouncing rocks is an art, one I have not mastered.

Candidate ignores experts on quarry
Fri Jul 25 2008
Letters to the Editor
Californain
Mr. Grey Frandsen's July 22 letter to the editor, "Regional vision without a quarry," indicates exactly what is wrong with our region and the politicians who want to be elected. Too little vision and blinders to the real problems and solutions. He wants to represent us, yet he ignores the state agencies that are telling us: 1) We have a critical lack of aggregate reserves, and 2) Local sources of aggregate have economic and environmental benefits.

The Press-Enterprise
March 13, 2008
Hardly a day goes by without the sounding of the warning bell about global warming and climate change. In fact, although some controversy over global warming remains, construction industry leaders are joining the many state and local governments that are starting to take action on their own.
