Community Involvement

One of Granite's core values is to be good corporate citizens. We are involved in our local communities of operations and provide direct financial assistance to hundreds of non-profit organizations each year. In addition, we provide time and material to organizations requiring such assistance. Some of the hands-on projects we have been involved with include baseball/softball field restorations, Habitat for Humanity, track fields and playgrounds. Our employees volunteer in numerous organizations throughout the country. Types of organizations we support include:

Rocks crush La Quinta's code violators

The city, in partnership with a local business, is helping keep La Quinta homeowners citation-free.
After some controversy over the La Quinta's Code Enforcement Department — with some residents, even council members, questioning the department's aggressive approach toward violators — city officials and representatives at Granite Construction Company in Indio got together to find a way to help their low-income neighbors.
Five homes in the La Quinta Cove received free groundcover to fix their front yards, which were in violation of the city's municipal code that requires front yards to be landscaped or desertscaped.

Contractors donate tons of food, thousands of dollars to nonprofit organization

Construction workers from the Portland Mall light-rail and Interstate 205 light-rail projects donated thousands of pounds of food and thousands of dollars to the Oregon Food Bank on Thursday. General Contractor Stacy & Witbeck Inc. and their joint venture partners, Kiewit Pacific Co., Granite Construction and Wildish companies, led the effort and matched any cash donations to double the total. The $7,072 check to the food bank was so big that it took two Stacy & Witbeck employees to make it official; Project Manager Mark Bodyfelt held it while Portland Office General Manager Rick Tortorello signed it.

Engineering Students AwardEngineering, computer science students receive individual awards

Students from the College of Engineering and Computer Science who took first and second place at the first Granite Collegiate Challenge this October met with faculty and members of Granite Construction Company for the official awards presentation.
